Abnormally Attracted to Sin is the tenth studio album by singer-songwriter Tori Amos, and is the artist's first release under her distribution deal with Universal Republic Records. The album, which Amos began writing while touring in support of her previous album American Doll Posse (2007), explores ideas of religious truths, a familiar motif of Amos's, and the relationships between women, power, and sin. The album will include accompanying 'visualettes' providing a visual narrative.

One of the most outspoken, creative singer/songwriters of our time returns with her ninth studio album and she's brought company. AMERICAN IDOL POSSE features Tori Amos in a way we,ve never heard her: as five distinc characters who combine to make a complete woman. The characters showed up when Tori began creating songs on her now famous Bosendorfer piano.
They include Isabel, (HisTORIcal), the most political of the bunch. She opens the album with "Yo George" and closes it with the anti-war anthem "Dark Side Of The Sun". Pip (ExpiraTORIail) swaggers her way through the driving "Teenage Hustling" and duets with another character Santa on the rollicking "Body And Soul".
And of course, there's Tori (TerraTORIles), who is front and centre on "Big Wheel" and the dreamy "Digital Ghost". Tori recorded the album in her own Martian Engineering Studios in Cornwall, England. AMERICAN DOLL POSSE is Tori's 9th studio album and the follow-up to THE BEEKEEPER...

Shortly before she began work on From the Choirgirl Hotel, Tori Amos suffered a miscarriage. While she was recording the album, she married her long-term boyfriend. As expected, both events cryptically wind their way into the album, which arguably has Amos' most personal lyrics since Little Earthquakes. The surprise is, From the Choirgirl Hotel is considerably more accessible than its immediate predecessor, Boys for Pele.

The album represents a more acoustic piano-based sound, and most of the final third of the album is devoted to a classical-inspired suite of piano songs, including the sweeping nine-and-a-half minute epic "Yes, Anastasia". Tori Amos used a prepared upright piano for the studio recording of "Bells for Her", which was also played on a prepared piano for the second half of the tour. It was voted among the greatest albums of the 1990s by Rolling Stone magazine some years later.
